Five Finger Rule

We have been spending alot of time at our local library this past month.  I have been trying to investigate beginning readers for LE.  When browsing recommendations this week, I found this cute poem I thought I would pass on to you moms who have young readers.

Choose a book and the read the first page or two.
Put one finger up for every word you don't know.
If five fingers go up while reading, choose another book.
If only two or three fingers go up, you've found a "just right" book.
