My friends the "Other Richards" do a really great thing for the homeless in the area that I think is a great idea. They keep ziploc bags in their car ready to hand out to the homeless instead of giving cash. These bags contain a bottle of water, granola bar, applesauce & spoon, pack of gum, among other things. I think this is an awesome idea and I have always wanted to try it. Other ideas Ben and I have tried for the homeless include giving $2-3 gift cards to local fast food restaurants, pair of men's socks, and of course hot cup of coffee.
